Signal Maze
Not every path is meant to lead somewhere.
Completed in Los Angeles, CA, this forearm piece was built as a structured system rather than a single image. The concept began from a line in the song “Apollo” by Hum, specifically the idea of something existing between two and everything. Instead of translating that into a literal equation, the design expands it into a navigational field where multiple paths emerge from a central axis.
Each direction represents intent, decision, and movement through uncertainty. Some routes collapse immediately. Others extend further before quietly failing. A few loop back, returning to their origin after distance and effort. The system does not reward every path equally. It reflects the reality that not all signals become meaning.
As the structure progresses down the forearm, the scattered information begins to organize. Binary sequences appear, suggesting communication, transmission, and breakdown. What starts as noise slowly compresses into something more coherent.
The design resolves into a molecular structure inspired by oxytocin. This is not used as a scientific reference, but as a symbolic endpoint. After fragmentation, filtering, and loss, something remains. Something forms. The molecule represents that final state where abstraction becomes tangible.

Design Logic and Structural Approach
The composition is built on a vertical hierarchy aligned with the anatomy of the forearm. The upper section acts as the origin point, where multiple vectors extend outward, creating a field of possible directions. This radial expansion is intentionally dense, representing the overwhelming nature of choice and signal overload.
As the eye moves downward, the system becomes more selective. Visual noise reduces. Paths narrow. Binary elements begin to appear, acting as a transitional layer between abstract direction and structured information. These sequences suggest communication attempts, filtering processes, and partial failures.
The lower section compresses into a molecular structure. This transition is critical. It marks the shift from possibility into formation. The molecule is constructed with controlled line weight and subtle color accents to create depth and separation from the upper system.
At its core, a geometric healing symbol is embedded, reinforcing the idea that what survives the system is not random, but stabilizing. The Braille text is placed discreetly, ensuring the personal layer of meaning remains present without dominating the visual hierarchy.
Negative space is preserved throughout the design to maintain readability over time. Each element is scaled to ensure longevity on skin while still allowing complexity to exist without overcrowding.
Build Your Own System
Every system like this is personal. The structure can be adapted to reflect different types of signals, decisions, or symbolic endpoints depending on your story. Some may lean more toward minimal structure, while others may expand into more complex networks or larger placements such as sleeves or back pieces.
The core idea remains consistent: a system that processes movement, filters noise, and resolves into something meaningful. The elements, density, and final formation can all be adjusted to fit both the body and the narrative behind it.
Begin Here
If you are thinking about a piece that carries structure, meaning, and long-term clarity on the body, the best place to start is with a clear direction.
Send your idea along with placement photos and a few reference points, and I will guide you through the process step by step. Each project is developed individually to ensure it fits both your story and your anatomy with precision.

Bonus: Between Signals
Part I
It started as a direction without certainty.
Not a destination, not even a clear intention. Just movement. Lines extending outward into a space that offered no guarantees. Every path felt possible in the beginning. Every signal carried weight. But as distance grew, so did the silence between them.
Some paths disappeared almost immediately, as if they were never meant to exist. Others stretched further, convincing enough to follow, structured enough to trust, until they collapsed without warning. A few returned, looping back to the same point, leaving behind only the trace of time spent moving.
There was no map for this.
Only the illusion of one.
And somewhere inside that expanding field, the signals began to weaken. What once felt clear turned fragmented. Messages broke apart. Information slowed, losing coherence, dissolving into scattered noise. The system did not fail all at once. It failed gradually, quietly, until it became difficult to tell what was signal and what was absence.
Still, something continued.
Not everything was lost.
Part II
Deep within the collapse, a pattern began to form.
Small at first. Almost unnoticeable. A sequence that resisted disappearance. It did not follow the same paths as the others. It did not spread outward. It moved inward, gathering instead of scattering.
Where everything else expanded into nothing, this held.
It aligned.
What once existed as direction became structure. What once dissolved began to stabilize. The noise did not vanish, but it no longer dominated. Something stronger had taken its place.
A formation.
Not perfect. Not immediate. But real.
And at the center of that formation, there was something unmistakable. Not a signal anymore. Not a question. But a presence. A connection that did not need to prove itself, because it had already survived everything that tried to break it.
It was never about finding the right path.
It was about what remained
after all the wrong ones were gone.
